Wyzie Subs

Search by Quote#

Search by Quote costs 1 request with any key, free or Pro. The page without a key has a low limit.

Remember a line of dialogue but not the title? Search it and get the movie or episode it is said in, with the time. It searches the subtitles Wyzie has seen, so a rare title can be missing. Results are short snippets, never whole subtitles.

On the Web#

Open sub.wyzie.io/quote, type the line and press Find it. Without a key you can search 20 times an hour and 60 times a day per address.

The API: GET /quote#

GET /quote with your key:

curl "https://sub.wyzie.io/quote?q=i%27ll+be+back&key=YOUR_KEY"
ParameterExampleDescription
qi'll be backThe line to find, 3 to 200 characters.
keyYOUR_KEYA Pro API key. Required.
languageenA language code such as en, or all (default).
limit5How many results, 1 to 10. Default 10.

The answer is a JSON list of up to 10 matches, best first, one per movie or episode:

[
  {
    "imdbId": "tt0088247",
    "title": "The Terminator",
    "year": 1984,
    "season": null,
    "episode": null,
    "language": "en",
    "timeMs": 2840000,
    "line": "I'll be back.",
    "context": "Stay here. I'll be back.",
    "match": "phrase"
  }
]

A key can search 60 times a minute. An identical search is answered from a 10 minute cache and still costs 1 request.

Privacy#

To make this work, the text of subtitles that pass through Wyzie is indexed for search. Only short snippets come back, and a key is limited so the index can't be downloaded in bulk.
