Plugins

Plex#

There is no Wyzie plugin for Plex, and none can be built today. Nothing about Plex is installable from us.

Why#

  • Plex's old plugin system is legacy and Plex plans to remove it from new servers during 2026, so building on it would break.
  • Its replacement, custom metadata providers, only carries titles, artwork and cast. It has no subtitle streams, so a provider cannot deliver subtitles. Plex has no other public way for third parties to add subtitle sources.

What works today#

  1. Sidecar files: download a subtitle from sub.wyzie.io/download, rename it next to the video (Movie (2020).en.srt, Show - S01E01.en.srt) and refresh the library.
  2. Move your library to Jellyfin or Emby, which have real Jellyfin and Emby plugins.
  3. Bazarr can write sidecar files for Plex, but its Wyzie provider is not merged upstream yet. See the Bazarr page.

If Plex adds subtitle streams to metadata providers, a Wyzie provider would be a small HTTP service, and we will build it then.
