Plugins

Jellyfin Plugin#

A native subtitle provider for Jellyfin. It shows up under Dashboard, Libraries, Subtitle downloaders and in the Search for subtitles dialog of any movie or episode.

Run on a real Jellyfin server, with the zip loaded by hand. The repository is published, but installing through it has not been tried on a real server yet, so the manual zip is the fallback.

Before you start#

You need Jellyfin 12.4 (the plugin is built for it; older servers will not load it) and a free Wyzie API key from store.wyzie.io/redeem.

Install#

  1. In Jellyfin, open Dashboard, Plugins, Repositories and add https://plugins.wyzie.io/jellyfin/manifest.json.
  2. Open the Catalog, install Wyzie Subs, and restart Jellyfin.

If the repository does not work for you, install by hand: download the plugin zip, unzip it into <jellyfin data dir>/plugins/Wyzie Subs_1.0.1.0/ (it holds Jellyfin.Plugin.Wyzie.dll and meta.json) and restart Jellyfin.

Set up#

  1. Dashboard, Plugins, Wyzie Subs: paste your key and save.
  2. Dashboard, Libraries, your library: enable Wyzie Subs under Subtitle downloaders and pick the download languages.

What it does#

  • Movies and episodes. Episodes are looked up by the show's id plus season and episode. The plugin sends the video's file name and, for local files, its OpenSubtitles hash, so the best match for your exact file ranks first. Both can be switched off on the plugin page.
  • One manual search or one automatic fetch costs 1 search request per language plus 1 download of the subtitle that is picked. AI translated rows are never offered, because each costs 25 requests. The plugin never retries.
  • After a 402, a 429, a held key or an invalid key, the plugin stops calling Wyzie for a while (30 minutes, until the reset time, 15 minutes and 10 minutes) and returns no results, so a library scan cannot burn requests on a dead key. Changing the key clears the pause.

Troubleshooting#

  • Wyzie is not in the list. Check that it is enabled under the library's Subtitle downloaders and that the server was restarted after the install.
  • Empty results. Check the key on the plugin page and in the dashboard. With a bad key the list is empty and the server log shows one warning.
